What is the difference between an X-ray and an ultrasound?

An X-ray machine creates an image of your pet’s internal structure to help diagnose any changes to their bones or organs. This can help identify any tumours, fractures, or swallowed items. For soft-tissue organs that might not show up as well on X-rays, an ultrasound is usually used. This helps to get a better picture of their internal organs such as the heart, kidneys and liver.

Are X-rays and ultrasounds safe for my cat?

Yes! All of our diagnostic tools are completely safe, painless and non-invasive for your feline friend. Your pet’s safety is our priority and with our digital technology, your pet will be exposed to less radiation.

Will my cat need to be sedated?

It is important to us that your loved one is comfortable and in as little pain as possible. For clear and accurate results, your pet needs to stay still and calm during the scan. To ensure that the process is stress free for your cat, we require all patients be given a mild sedative prior to the procedure. For some patients, stronger sedatives may be required if they have high anxiety or need to be placed in an uncomfortable position.
