When should I spay/neuter my cat?

It is safe for kittens and cats to be spayed or neutered as young as 6-months-old to prevent any problems in the future. Regardless of their age, your pet can still be spayed or neutered. Reach out to one of our veterinarians and we’d be happy to walk you through your options and concerns.

What are the advantages of spaying and neutering my cat?

Studies have shown that spayed and neutered cats are more likely to live longer lives and are less prone to diseases like cancer. The procedure has also been known to have positive behavioural changes such as preventing aggression, urine spraying, howling and wandering.

What happens during spaying and neutering surgery?

The procedure involves removing your cat’s reproductive organs so they are no longer able to reproduce. Spaying involves surgically removing the female’s ovaries while neutering removes the male’s testicles. To make sure the process is as pain-free as possible, both procedures are done under general anesthesia.
