Keeping your pet's skin and coat healthy through regular veterinary exams.

Excessive grooming, a change in your cat’s skin or hair loss might be the first sign that your cat has a skin problem. By bringing them in for a veterinary exam our trained staff can determine the source of their discomfort and how to effectively treat it. Don’t hesitate to call us at 604-986-2287 if you have any concerns and we’ll be happy to provide you with all the information you need.

How do I know if my cat has a skin issue?

It may be hard to notice subtle changes in your cat’s skin. While performing a weekly brush, key signs to look for are hair loss such as any bald spots, red, or scabby areas, smelly fur or any areas that your cat excessively licks and scratches. To get a better picture of what’s going on our veterinarians will perform a full physical exam, blood tests or skin scrapes. Proper diagnosis allows us to provide the best medical treatment for your pet.

What skin conditions do cats usually have?

Like humans, cats can be prone to skin cancer, acne, as well as food and environmental allergies. All of these factors can cause itchiness and discomfort. Parasites such as ticks, fleas and mites can also cause swelling and infections. If you notice any changes in your cat’s skin, schedule an appointment with one of our veterinarians – the sooner, the better!

What treatments are available for my cat’s skin problem?

To provide exceptional care for your fur baby we will run tests to diagnose their skin condition. After reviewing the results, we will work with you to find the best treatment plan tailored to your pets’ needs and lifestyle such as healthy food alternatives, ointments or antibiotics to relieve any pain or irritation they may be experiencing. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure your cat continues to live a comfortable and healthy life.
